Bokeh is described as “the appearance, or “feel,” of out-of-focus areas. Bokeh is not how far something is out-of-focus, bokeh is the character of whatever blur is there” by photographer Ken Rockwell (you can read more about that here). It lends to the creative composition of a photograph as well as drawing your eye to the main subject matter of the image. This week I decided to “cheat” and include a photo of both my kids. The first is where my daughter is the main focus of the image and the blurry background helps to draw her out whereas in the second photo, my son is part of the bokeh and the main focus is his snack.
Continue on in our talented circle of photographers to Laurie Schultz – Cincinnati, OH and enjoy all the creaminess of her bokeh this week.

Great shots! Love the creamy feel of the first one and the second one is just so perfect! Loving this week!
i love how you managed to do a lovely job while capturing such genuine and special images of your kids. sweetness and beauty…
i love how you set this up like a study in contrasts- one image where the person is the subject of the photo, and the other in which they’re the background. AND, i just adore the raspberry photo…toooooo cute!
